Today's Learning:

Beat Insomnia with Breathwork

Deep breathing may improve sleep by calming the body when it’s in a state of stressed hyper-arousal (AKA fight-or-flight), according to 2019 research published in Frontiers in Psychiatry. Slowing down your exhalation is one of the most effective ways to regulate and downshift your nervous system. Doing so slows your heart rate, which, in turn, signals to the brain that things are peaceful and that it’s safe to rest. This simple practice can help you fall asleep or get back to sleep if you awaken during the night:

1. Inhale through your nose for 4 counts.

2. Hold your breath for 4 counts.

3. Exhale through your nose for 8 counts.

4. Repeat the sequence for 6–8 rounds.

You can repeat, gradually increasing the number of rounds, until you fall asleep.

Thought of the Day: I keep my mind focused on peace, harmony, health, love and abundance. Then, I can’t be distracted by doubt, anxiety, or fear.

Did you know?
A company in Japan awards non-smokers an extra six days of paid leave each year. 😱😱
It was brought to the marketing firm’s attention that employees who went for smoke breaks had more than 15 minutes of extra time away from their desks each day. Instead of penalizing smokers, they came up with a creative incentive to quit smoking while keeping their non-smoking employees happy in the process!

Oddity of the Day:
Antique Coffin Nails

Antique coffin nails are considered an oddity or curiosity collectible because of their age and size. For example, there are some that are 4-5 inches long and from the 1800s which makes them old and interesting. Some are still tied with twine showing how they were carried. Due to their age and use, some of the nails may be slightly bent, but most are in good condition.

Laugh of the Day:

With love and light,
